In this article we give some tips on buying a photo booth in the UK.
Why do you want to buy a photo booth?
The obvious answer to this is ‘to make money.’ You will make money, you’ll acquire a business that practically runs itself. A regular revenue stream that can be the start of a business or remain as a side hustle to complement your existing business.
Is there a drawback to owning a photo booth business?
It depends. If you are going to have one static location, say in a restaurant then that will cut down on your time. If you are going to be hiring your booth for events then that is much more time-consuming as you or an employee will need to attend, sometimes late into the night.
You’ll also have to take into account the maintenance of the booth, from keeping it clean and fixing any minor bashes and scrapes (our booths are robust and made from quality materials but expect some minor repairs) to refreshing the consumables, that is quality print paper and ink.
Photo booths run on software and although you can use remote access for updates you may have to attend to fix any minor software glitches that come from using MS Windows.

When you own one of our booths and you have a location then it is important to make friends and cultivate those who run the restaurant, nightclub or other space. You can offer them a number of free vends and just be friendly, a good relationship is going to pay off in many ways including word-of-mouth referrals to other venues.
Themes and Branding
Retro-Me booths can be customised to a high degree. We offer wraps of the booth to make them stand out or to look discrete as they can be tucked away in any little used space. We can also make the booth using different materials, Art Deco or Steam Punk, whatever works best.
Our photo strips can also me branded with say, a theme night like New Year or Halloween or the location’s brand or a brand of a sponsor or supplier. This adds to the formation of word-of-mouth for your client (the venue).
The Social Side
An option for our photo booths is a touch screen. This enables the customers to send their fun pictures to social profiles, again, building valuable word-of-mouth. GIFs (short animations) are very popular.
The Lease Option
If you are not ready to take the plunge and buy a photo booth in the UK then we offer a leasing option. You can trial and then if the venue is right and the revenue generated is significant you can buy to cut down your overheads.
You could lease more than one booth and trial different venues. Or, if you find a good venue making a profit you could lease a second for using to hire out to events. Weddings are especially profitable. The only thing to consider here is the amount of time they take up and that they can eat up a great deal of the spring and summer.
